Vanchai embodies their passions for travel, design, and sustainability. In a world where consumption drives commerce, they encourage you to align your shopping with your values and journey. While they value captivating design, they prioritize the well-being of the planet and its people. They believe in empowering artists and protecting nature. Vanchai showcases home furnishing products, which are crafted with the help of artisans from remote villages in India and inspired by designs from around the world.
Purpose
Vanchai believes in minimizing their carbon footprint on the environment and in helping others, who share similar values, achieve the same. Their priority is to promote products that are safely made, with ethically sourced materials, to make your home a reflection of your beliefs. They believe in promoting forgotten arts and techniques. Keeping alive the rich cultural heritage of their country is an important task they are committed to. Vanchai is proud to design products that culminate contemporary designs with traditional artistry.
People
Vanchai believes in empowering vulnerable communities and getting to know the people behind the products. When you buy a handmade product, you are purchasing countless hours of failure, experimentation, and moments of pure joy. You don’t just buy a product; you buy the time for the artist to pursue something they are passionate about. Their products represent the hopes and dreams of many artisans and their families – to live and to survive. Artisans from Joynagar, situated in the southern part of West Bengal and trained in dried flowers, are growing their business and passing the art to the next generation.
Planet
Vanchai is making an effort to minimize the environmental impact of their dried flowers. They use various types of waste that are typically considered useless for anything other than decoration or accessories. For instance, they use sola wood (Aeschynomene aspera), corn husks, and ice apple fruit caps to create their flowers. Moreover, they source their cane from natural cane in the Northeast.
