Flourish Planet is a direct-to-community e-commerce platform that elevates the stories, craftsmanship and impact of artisans around the world.

As a maker-first, social benefit business, Flourish Planet funnels all profits back to the artisan makers featured on the platform through a model that promotes transparency, environmental sustainability, social inclusivity and integrity.

In addition to our direct-to-community e-commerce platform, Flourish Planet is also expanding the impact and proven training and capacity-building methodology of our parent organization, Industree Foundation, to artisans and makers in the US.

Our Mission

Our mission is to redefine d2c commerce as a direct-to-community model which drives economic power and dignity to marginalized artisan communities around the world.

We’ve long considered how the increased margins from direct-to-consumer commerce can drive growth and profitability. But what we haven’t considered enough is how those increased margins can also drive social impact. And that is exactly our mission at Flourish Planet.

Our Model

With the launch of Flourish Planet, we’re taking the same maker-owned model that our parent organization Industree has been deploying for decades on the ground in India and applying it to the very vehicle millions of consumers use every day - ecommerce.

The Flourish Planet marketplace platform is operated by Flourish Planet Social Benefit Corporation - a Delaware registered public benefit corporation. Flourish Planet is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Creative Million, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity whose mission is to create sustainable livelihoods for artisans everywhere.

Our Values

Through our organizational structure, it is not only our moral imperative to put the artisan at the center of every business decision. It is also our legal imperative.

And we live this commitment through our values, starting with complete transparency.

Transparency

Transparency is essential to foster both sustainable livelihoods for makers as well as impactful, conscious consumption. Consumers become changemakers when they decide to make purchases that deliver real impact on global communities by supporting their livelihoods, and we want to ensure everyone in the value chain is informed about what makes up the final cost of a product.

Each product on our platform has a cost breakdown, sharing with complete transparency how the cost of each product is distributed across raw materials costs, artisan wages, producer group margin and Flourish Planet’s margin.

Raw Material Cost

Expenses associated with sourcing natural raw materials locally

Artisan Wages

Amount of the total cost that the artisans retain as payment

Producer Group Margin

Amount of the total cost that the brand retains both as profit and to cover operating costs

Flourish Planet Mission Margin

As a registered public benefit corporation, all payment retained by Flourish Planet is used to cover operating costs and initiatives to benefit artisans

Inclusivity

As a platform whose founding is rooted in supporting indigenous artisans in India, it remains our goal to elevate and celebrate indigenous brands across the globe. As we expand the impact of Industree Foundation and Flourish.shop to the US, we are one of the few sustainable marketplaces to aggregate underserved makers who have yet to reap the full benefits of the digital economy.

Sustainability

We live in a world where economic sustainability is not possible without environmental sustainability. Communities cannot sustain and flourish if their natural resources are being extracted. With that in mind, all products on Flourish Planet are made, sourced, and packaged with renewable, biodegradable, recyclable, or reclaimed materials.

Dignity

When we see producers for more than just their hands - but for their intellect, business acumen and community leadership - that's when we're truly integrating workers into the formal economy in a way that extends beyond the commodity of their labor. And that is precisely what we are achieving at Flourish Planet through our maker-owned model for consumption.
