US Sherpa was founded in 2006 by Ongyel Sherpa. Born and raised in Nepal, Ongyel was given once in a life opportunity to come to Vermont by this American family. US Sherpa is an authentic Sherpa brand who produces functional, natural fiber products, handcrafted in Nepal for the active, caring and outdoor lifestyle which directly creates jobs and income for the Nepalese communities.
Purpose
US Sherpa products are hand-crafted by artisans, who use production methods that go back generations. Their strong roots in Nepal allow them to produce handmade, artisan products while practicing fair-trade and eco-friendly principles, creating sustainable jobs for economically marginalized producers, and preserving the authentic Nepalese culture.
People
US Sherpa is built with having the responsibility of giving back to the Nepalese communities. They design, create and collaborate with their arisans in Nepal to produce handcrafted, fair trade, environmentally friendly products while also showcasing the country's rich culture and tradition throuh its vibrant products. Most of their products are made my women, marginalized and indigenous groups who can't find other jobs and women can earn income while being at home taking care of family and other tasks. Over the years, they have been able to directly support around 250 workers every year in the Nepalese handcrafts industry while also supporting non profits and small business organizations like Disabled Service Center, Himalayan Cataract Project, Khumjung Youth Club.

US Sherpa products feature natural fibers such as sheep wool, yak wool and Gheri cotton. In additon to using these sustainable materials, US Sherpa producs are also hand-crafted which comes with the benifit of a reduction in energy usage for manufacturing and keeping the culture, tradition of handcraft jobs. They re-use all the cardboard, plastics, pack in multiples, and use biodegradable materials as often as they can in their packaging like paper hang tags, cotton strings, safety pins.
