People
For over 28 years, UPAVIM has worked with and within the community of La Esperanza to develop programs for the community’s benefit. Who works for, manages, and develops these programs? The women of La Esperanza and surrounding communities. These programs include jobs, leadership opportunities, K-6 school, daycare, pre-school, bakery, pharamacy, and local scholarships.
Planet
UPAVIM prioritizes eco-friendly practices in sourcing and production, minimizing environmental impact. Raw materials are sustainably sourced within Guatemala, including reclaimed wood and local volcanic clay for ceramics. Handwoven fabrics from local cotton are used, promoting traditional craftsmanship. A zero waste program ensures efficient resource utilization, repurposing fabric and materials for new products. Additionally, waste materials from other industries are collected and transformed into innovative products, further reducing waste. These initiatives reflect UPAVIM's commitment to environmental sustainability throughout its manufacturing process, fostering a more eco-conscious approach to product creation.
