Kattoos - by Pipal Leaf aims to promote an entrepreneurial mindset and create opportunities for meaningful sustained livelihoods. The products are made by women’s self-help groups located in rural underserved communities of Kolar district in Karnataka state of India. They make their products using locally available clay, handcrafting them into miniature terracotta bricks of different shapes, drying them, and firing them in mud kilns. The income from this work helps them support their families. These bricks are put together to make different play and learning, home decor, and table decor products. The miniature bricks are also used for model making by architects and designers.
