Purpose
The Ekibeki vision is to revive the folk arts and crafts of India and help generate livelihood for women and young artisans. The traditional Indian artisans with compromised opportunities and economically difficult conditions struggle to make their ends meet through stable incomes. This has resulted in the reduction of the creative workforce leading to dying ancient crafts, generation after generation. Ekibeki has identified some of the issues faced by the artisans. Through the hand-crafted products and other efforts, they strive to mitigate these issues and foster a better path to livelihood for artisans.
People
Ekibeki, largely works with the Copper enamel, Gond, Pattachitra and Chitrakathi artisans of India. Their aim is to create awareness about the cultural value of crafts in the urban markets and develop self-sustainable producer-owned clusters to empower women and youth artisans. They work with the artisans to develop contemporary products with designs to match the current market trends and provide technical inputs for ensuring consistently high product quality. They work towards building artisan capacity through relevant design, manufacturing or sales training.
Planet
All products at Ekibeki are made from eco-friendly materials. While they use high quality recycled paper to create our stationery supplies, Ekibeki also goes the extra mile to use surplus pieces from copperware manufacturers to create the range of Copper Enamel products, thereby helping other organizations reduce their carbon footprint.
