The ever-changing world of today requires our children to have the mental strength and character to take on the challenges of tomorrow. Chittam believes that our Indic wisdom provides the perfect foundation for the kids to do so, because of the way it deals with grey areas and the ambiguity of reality. That's why at Chittam, they are transforming this timeless knowledge into fun, engaging games thereby inculcating cultural rootedness and mental strength in children.
Purpose
Chittam's mission is to take Indian culture to today's children in exciting, innovative, and meaningful ways. They design and manufacture board games and card games that draw from the deep well of Indian culture, philosophy and spirituality, to leave children – and their parents – with a more direct appreciation of multiple aspects of our diverse lived culture. Chittam was founded with the belief that to be successful – as individuals and as a country – we need not just the skills and knowledge that come from conventional schooling, but also the stillness and clarity within, the strength to take on everything that world throws at us, and the rootedness to our civilizational heritage.
People
At the company, Chittam provides a strong support system for women to make a successful transition back into the workforce after taking a break, as well as for women seeking to become independent, like their illustrators. The illustrations are crafted by women who have honed the skills needed to work on their own. The same is true for their content writers. All of the handcrafted products are made by male artisans from impoverished communities. They are also mindful of the fact that many of the female employees are mothers to small children and offer flexible working hours to ensure they have time for their families.
Planet
Chittam strives to present ancient Indian wisdom to children in ways they understand and appreciate. All the products are eco-friendly and child-safe. They only use paper, cardboard and fabric to manufacture the products.
