Purpose
The Mango Tree’s core philosophy is to reimagine the crafts in a way that brings together aesthetic and usability to create a valuable product. The impact of the process on the artisan and the environment are their two main areas of focus while designing a product. For them, a successful design is one that adds value to the lives of both consumer and creator while being environmentally friendly.
People
From the spinning of yarn to weaving and finishing, each Dhurrie involves around 4-5 artisans. As women get to work from home, they are in a better position to balance their family, social, and work life. They can take care of the family while working from out of the home. Working together as a group also strengthened their mutual understanding and their sense of community.
Planet
They either try to use an upcycled yarn or completely organic materials for the creation of these Dhurries. The dyes are strictly Azo-free for the well-being of artisans, customers as well as the planet! Azo dyes contain more than 20 carcinogenic amines and are banned by many countries yet are used by many textile brands. Right from the yarns to the dye used, everything is organic.
